Park volunteer leads a nature hike with kids

There are few greater rewards than being a volunteer in a national park.  Volunteer programs are run by each of the major land managers of the Santa Monica Mountains and include training – no prior experience is necessary.  Depending on your time available, location, and interest, there is certain to be a great fit for you here.

National Park Service

Volunteers-In-Parks Program (VIP)
Deliver visitor programs and interact with the public throughout the Santa Monica Mountains and even in downtown Los Angeles.  Work side by side with rangers to staff the new Interagency Visitor Center at King Gillette Ranch in Calabasas, CA.

Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority

Volunteer Naturalists
Lead interpretive nature programs at the following park locations: Santa Clarita Woodlands, Franklin Canyon Park, King Gillete Ranch, Temescal Gateway Park, Upper Las Virgenes Open Space Preserve, Vista Hermosa Natural Park, and the Puente/Chino Hills in Whittier.
